Live Sound Engineer • Immersive Audio Designer • Guitarist • Sonic Explorer

If your cat approves, you’re on the right frequency

I run Belly of the Whale Studio, a mobile, modular sound lab based in Gothenburg. I work across live mixing, immersive sound design, and studio spatial mixing. Whether I’m mixing FOH for MC50, dragging speakers into an abandoned reservoir, or building immersive theater worlds, I treat every signal path like a new story.

About Carlos

I’m Carlos Sepúlveda — live sound engineer, immersive audio designer, guitarist, composer, and someone who believes that a mixing console is just another instrument. Whether I’m shaping a concert mix, scoring a documentary, recording and performing at the Sahara desert, or chasing reverb in a forgotten water tank, I treat sound as an emotional and spatial interpretation — not reproduction.

I don’t see a boundary between a 7-string guitar and a mixing console. Both require instinct, dynamics, and soul. The engineer is not a technician but an artist — a human with the power to shape feeling through air.

I’ve worked across Sweden and beyond — with artists like MC50 (Wayne Kramer) and Sister Sledge, as a system engineer for Sting (with Howard Page), and as a composer for film. I’ve also built and designed my own immersive 7.0.2 PA system, powered by Spat Revolution, and the helping hands of NEXO, and Intersonic.

My work includes collaborations with Google, Stadsteatern Stockholm, and more.
And when people say “You can’t do sound there” — I usually say, “Hold my XLR.”

SERVICES OVERVIEW

What I Do

Live Sound Engineering
FOH, monitor, and system design for tours, festivals, and theaters using my Allen & Heath SQ5 and Dante setup. Fast, musical, flexible.

Immersive PA (7.0.2 Portable System)
My custom-built immersive system is designed for mobility. It fits in one vehicle and fills unusual spaces with spatial sound magic — from galleries to silent film screenings.

Immersive Studio Mixing (Dolby Atmos 7.1.4)
Spatial mixing using Dolby Atmos, Spat Revolution, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Eclipsa. Studio and remote workflow options available.

Music & Composition
I composed for Corazón Verde (Green Heart), a documentary by my father, author Luis Sepúlveda, and I’m developing immersive theater adaptations of his works.
